Concrete Experience

This is my first teaching experience in Korea, a big elementary school on 2008 summer. I had ten ten-year old students, we learned the numbers in Chinese using yesterday, and we played Bingo game to review the numbers. They waited for me to correct answers on the blackboard and asked me to play one more time. We played three times and Chinese class times up.

Reflective Observation

I think it is a good way to review the numbers, but why can’t my students remember all the Chinese we learned yesterday? How can I stop this game? They love Bingo very much, but they were not always focused on Chinese learning, the game was no meaning in this moment.

Abstract Conceptualization

I think I didn’t have enough class management skills and less teaching experience. And I didn’t help students recall their memories before holding the game and making it meaningful.

Active Experimentation

I will review the material first then do the game, making the process meaningful.
Before designing an activity, think about the details and objectives clearly. What is the objective of this activity? What knowledge do they need to have in this activity?
